  • Free Winter Math Worksheets – Snowflakes Skip Counting By 2s Printable

Practice skip counting by 2s with this free worksheet.  Learning to count by 2s helps build great number sense and prepares kids for addition, basic multiplication, and eventually division.  This is a fun activity to use in the winter months and can be added to any winter math packet. Print out several counting by 2s worksheets for students to learn with. First, it’s a good idea to model counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s using a number line or large hundreds chart.  Do the counting with the whole class several times until they get the patterns down well and understand the routine. Next, use this worksheet or a similar worksheet and model for the students how to fill in the missing numbers by counting the pictures.  Ask students for help while you fill in the sheet. After modeling for the students, pass out the same worksheet or another similar page and have the students complete it individually.  Walk around the classroom and correct them and help them where needed. Once students seem to have the routine down and understand how to skip count independently, then it’s time to send a practice sheet home as reinforcement of the skills taught. Many students need to repeat the activities and learning independently in order to commit the new skills and understanding to memory. It’s always a good idea to review the homework and occasionally repeat the same type of activity in class throughout the year.
